This
method uses a hydraulic press to form metal over a special patterned
die. This method is useful in making very large quantities of one
item. The patterned dies have to be very precise in order to achieve
high-quality results. Due to the high tooling costs involved, only
certain types of jewelry, such as plain wedding bands and mountings
that are used to hold stones, are manufactured this way. This method
is generally only found at the high production manufacturing levels.
